A GLOBAL
ORcheSTRA
SINGING AUCTION
YOU’VE HEARD OF A “SILENT AUCTION” TO RAISE MONEY FOR A CAUSE? WELL, WHAT ABOUT A “SINGING AUCTION?”
THE GLOBAL ORCHESTRA will be an international network of educators who will bring global music to children no matter where they live. The network will make musical culture-bearers available for bookings both in person and online, enabling the network to include educators who can provide students with access to an extraordinary diversity of experiences, and allowing our teachers to reach children in rural or distant parts of the world.
YOU’RE A MUSICIAN TOO — WE CAN MAKE THIS GREAT!
The Global Orchestra is an extremely musical endeavor and you are an extremely musical person. Let’s have a “SINGING AUCTION” and use songs to build this global music education project together.
How will this work? There are A LOT of details on this page,
but you can probably figure it out if you
GO RIGHT TO THE SUBMISSION FORM.
DETAILS:
You’ve heard of holding a “silent auction” as a way to raise money for a cause, with local businesses donating items and donors bidding on those items to show their support? That’s great…but for this project, who can stay silent? ALL AROUND THIS WORLD HEREBY INITIATES A “SINGING AUCTION” TO USE MUSIC TO MAKE THIS INTENSELY MUSICAL PROJECT HAPPEN.
This will be the BEST part of the fundraiser.
HOW WILL THIS WORK?
1) YOU ARE A MUSICIAN with a song in your heart. You have fans who long to hear you sing it, and more. We know your fans will love the mission of the Global Orchestra as much as we do and want to support this project. YOU will give your fans the option to do that while still paying you with honor for your art and time.
2) YOU WILL DECIDE WHAT KIND OF MUSICAL THING YOU WANT TO OFFER TO THE SINGING AUCTION. What do you think your fans would like? A single-song serenade over Facetime? A full-on sing-along “video visit” to their kids’ classroom? We suggest starting by offering a three to five-song private livecast concert that you would perform on Zoom for the fan who bids the highest by the auction deadline.
3) (This one is very important to us.) YOU WILL NOT BE DONATING YOUR MUSICAL WORK TO THIS PROJECT! All Around This World believes making music is a job worthy of every sort of respect. Far too often people assume that just because we musicians love what we do, we don’t need (or even want!) compensation. Well, for this project, we insist you pick an amount of payment you feel would honor your time. You’ll let us know, we’ll add something to it, and that will be the starting bid. You will only provide your service if someone pays that amount or more.
As an example…let’s say you decide to auction a private 3 song Zoom concert that you will perform for the high-bidder and their guests.
What would you charge for a 3 song Zoom show? We’ll say you’d feel good about earning $150. All Around This World will post your offer on our auction site and add $100, to make the starting bid $250.
4) Let the bidding begin! We will put your offer up on our online auction page and get ready to roll. (See the auction image on this page for an example.) You will also spread the word on your website and social media, and we will do the same.
If no one takes advantage of this incredible offer, that’s their loss. (no concert, no donation, no harm no foul.) But of course one of your fans will buy this special experience! When that happens, you will earn your chosen amount and the Global Orchesta will receive the rest.
You may definitely make more than one musical event available; duplicates of the same offer are fine. You may also have a “Buy Now” price that will let superfans circumvent the bidding.
5) TIMELINE:
All Around This World’s Global Orchestra Crowdfunding Campaign started October 19-20 with a live online 24-HOUR MUSIC CLASS MARATHON. It was a blast!
Our next big event, is a GLOBAL MUSIC CONCERT IN PHILADELPHIA ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21st featuring Philly’s top international musicians. At the concert, rather than having a silent auction or any sort of raffle, WE WILL DEBUT ALL SINGING ACTION “ITEMS” BY MAKING THEM OPEN FOR BIG FOR CONCERT-GOERS AT THE EVENT. As long as you’ve sent your item our way by November 19th, we will print your photo, a description of your item/s and the URL that points to the auction online, which we will make live just before the event.
Concert-goers will have a chance to check out your work via the links you sent through the auction posting, and have the first opportunity to bid. After that, if no-one has bought your item/s at the BUY NOW price, we’ll keep the auction open until either that happens, or the crowdfunding campaign ends on December 30th.
PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR AUCTION ITEM/S THROUGH THE FORM BY NOVEMBER 19th (THE SOONER THE BETTER!).
6) PAYMENT. Around This World will deal with collecting payment for the auction through our site and also, when appropriate, the site of our 501c3 fiscal sponsor. Auction winners will be able to receive a tax deductible donation for the amount they’ve bid beyond your payment. So, if you said a three song show was worth $150 and they bid $300, they can pay $150 through our 501c3 fiscal sponsor and receive a deduction. All Around This World will pay you your amount when you have provided the promised service to the winning bidder.
