RUSLANA IS “WILD”
In 2004 Ruslana, a singer from Ukraine’s Hutsul ethno-cultural group, won the continent’s Eurovision Song Contest while representing the nation — a really big deal. Her song, “Wild Dances,” was inspired by the Hutsulka and other Hutsul dances, albeit with non-traditional costumes and quite non-traditional moves. That’s okay. If that means dancing wildly, we dance!
After Eurovision Ruslana rose to Ukrainian superstardom, and expanded her super-ness to becoming an leading anti-Putin, pro-EU, pro-democracy activist; the Ruslana wikipedia page tells several tales of her bravery during the 2013 "Euromaidan" protests.
Even after all these years, with all that has happened in Ukraine since 2004, Ruslana's site shows that she is still awesome.
